Soda Machines
Sorry, we don't sell any Soda Machines. In our opinion, Sodastream makes an excellent soda machine. A
recent entrant into this market is Primo, which is the US manufacturer of the
Flavorstation-100 and Flavorstation-500. This page will show you our opinions on the
various models what features they offer.
If your machine is out of warranty and is in need of repair, we offer a Repair
Service for them (certain models only) see below for details.

Our all-time favorite is the Sodastream Edition1 which is no longer
manufactured under that name but is available in the European and US market as the Dynamo
(RED machine). These machines were originally designed to use the large 110L/130L
33oz Carbonator Tanks, but can use either the small 60L (15oz) or large 110L/130L (33oz)
CO2 Carbonator Tanks.

Sodastream's FountainJet, most popular older model that is still in
production. Comes in basic white, silver/black, and other colors. These
machines were originally designed to use the large 110L/130L 33oz Carbonator Tanks but are
now sold with the small 60L (15oz) Tanks.

Sodastream's Pure and Genesis, comes in different colors and styles.
These machines were designed to replace the FountainJet and ONLY use the small 60L (15oz)
CO2 Carbonator Tanks.

Sodastream's Penguin, Crystal, and the newly introduced Fizz are very
pricey. The Penguin and Crystal use small 1/2 liter glass carafes instead of plastic
bottles. Good for a "retro" look for a home bar and low volume user.
The new Fizz uses regular plastic soda bottles from Sodastream (no crystal carafes) and
has a Digital display and button which allows you to select the carbonation level and
tells you when you're running low on CO2. Sadly, the latter will be evident most of
the time considering their tiny 60L 15oz CO2 Tanks. In our opinion, its extra
gimmicks that needlessly inflates the cost of an otherwise good Soda Machine. The
Fizz can use either the 110L/130L or 60L carboators but ships only with the 60L.
These machines were designed as their High-End machines and can ONLY the small
60L (15oz) CO2 Carbonator Tanks. While being more expensive and supposedly
"High-End", they are also the most problematic from what we've seen and heard.

Primo's Flavorstation-100 is a new entrant in the home
Soda maker market. This is a very basic and value rich soda machine which is surely
to upset sodastream's CO2 Monopoly. This machine uses standard off the shelf 20oz
Paintball Tanks and valves with NO special threads or booby-traps. Comes in a basic
white color and a starter kit including a full tank is only $67.99 as of November 2011.
Drawbacks are that the plastic bottle has only a 16.5oz capacity and that a
separate "purge" button must be pressed prior to removel (overcomes patent
infringement issues). Also, the plastic fitting into which the CO2 tank screws into
is not very rugged and may be a future failure concern.
Overall, a great value for the money.

Soda Machines are typically sold direct by Sodastream, but are also distributed by Kohls; Williams
& Sonoma; Costco; and sold New and Used on eBay by a
few Israeli eBay sellers as well as customers who just got burned-out on the high cost of
CO2 refills. On eBay, they seem to be less
expensive and can be purchased WITHOUT Carbonator Tanks. The latter being
great if you plan on using our FreedomOne or FreedomOne+. External CO2 Tank System since 60L
or 110L Carbonator Tanks are not used or required.
The Primo brand of Flavorstation-100 and Flavorstation-500 (not available yet)
is currently sold by Lowes Home Improvement Centers.
REPAIRS
Do you already own one of these machines and need to have
it repaired? Getting them repaired by Sodastream is truly a "MISSION
IMPOSSIBLE"! They just want to sell you a new one and they carry no spare
parts. Well... you're in luck! Because we recognize Sodastream's lack of
repair support, we routinely purchase used machines or "open-box" items from
other vendors. We then strip them of all usable parts, test and inspect them
for 100% quality and function. The end result is that we now have a comfortable
supply of replacement parts.
We DO NOT repair Penguins or Crystal machines due to
unavailability of parts. However, be advised that they do come with at least a 2
year warranty from Sodastream.
We DO NOT sell replacement parts due to the fact that
most customers may not know how to conduct a proper repair. If you need to have your
Sodastream machine repaired, please write us a detailed email listing the problem and we
will answer with a budgetary quotation on the cost to fix it.
NOTE: ALL PARTS ARE CONSIDERED USED/REFURBISHED
AND ARE NOT SOURCED FROM OR AFFILIATED WITH SODASTREAM, SODASTREAM-USA, OR ITS
RELATED COMPANIES. ALL REPAIRS ARE STRICTLY AFTER-MARKET REPAIRS AND DO NOT INVOLVE
SODASTREAM OR ITS COMPANIES.

We sell spare Carbonator Tank
Washers. These are the sealing washers that are located inside the plastic threaded
piece where your Carbonator Tank screws into the Soda Machine. Unlike Sodastream's
hard BLACK Washers, ours are made of 100% Food Grade Silicone, they're softer, they
seal better, and are far more durable than the Sodastream factory seals. You can
order these from our Ordering Page in the Parts and Seals area. |
